What is Bluegrass in the Grove?

Bluegrass in the Grove was born out of a simple idea with a long history. Growing up, all of us have fond memories of the historical site located just outside of our neighborhood. Poplar Grove has long been a local refuge with a small nature preserve we would walk down and a deep rooted history of a time gone by. Now, as Wilmington is growing, we find that this place that belongs to all could be taken away from us.

The nostalgia and reverence that we have for our history sparked an idea in the fall of 2024. What if we had a Bluegrass festival here? It was a perfect idea. The picturesque shady grounds with it’s historic cabins and barns were the ideal venue for a festival. Not only that, but it shared the same mission—to preserve our heritage, and the history of our traditional music, dance, and community.

Thanks to all who showed up last year at our 1st Bluegrass in the Grove Music Fest. You are what made this dream possible, and you are the ones helping preserve our heritage.

Mark your calendars for our 2nd annual festival on June 13, 2026!
